Everything you need to know about switching from Splitwise

Both are strong expense-splitting apps. Splitwise is the mature default with native mobile apps, offline entry, payment integrations in supported regions, Pro receipt scanning, export, search, currency conversion, and a large user base. SuperDivide is a newer, web-first alternative focused on a fast interface, AI receipt extraction, itemized splitting, group analytics, disputes, reminders, and a cleaner power-user workflow.
Splitwise import is being built. Today, SuperDivide includes an import/export workspace and a CSV template, but automatic migration of groups, expenses, payments, and balances is not generally available yet. Until that ships, the safest path is to start new groups in SuperDivide or manually recreate key active balances.
If Splitwise already fits your workflow, you may not need to switch. SuperDivide is aimed at people who want a faster web/PWA workflow, AI receipt extraction from uploaded images, itemized splits, richer group analytics, disputes, comments, and cleaner settlement records. The best reason to try it is frequent shared spending where speed and reviewability matter.
For shared groups, friends need SuperDivide accounts to participate directly. You can invite existing users or send invite links to new users. For a low-friction migration, start with one new trip, roommate group, or dinner group instead of moving every historical Splitwise group at once.
Yes. SuperDivide currently uses a 14-day trial. During the trial you can test groups, expenses, splits, receipt upload, comments, disputes, analytics, settlement records, notifications, and billing management before deciding whether the product fits your workflow.
Your existing Splitwise history stays in Splitwise unless you manually recreate it in SuperDivide. SuperDivide is best used today for new activity or active groups you intentionally move over. Full historical import and export are planned, but should not be treated as launched features yet.
SuperDivide is a PWA with offline shell support, but full offline expense creation and sync are not positioned as equivalent to Splitwise's offline entry yet. Receipt OCR also requires a network connection because processing happens in the cloud.
Splitwise Pro also offers OCR and itemization. SuperDivide's receipt flow is web/PWA-first: upload a receipt image, extract merchant, total, currency, and line items, then review and assign items in the expense form. The current product intentionally keeps a review step because receipt OCR can be wrong and money data should stay user-confirmed.
SuperDivide currently supports payment profile fields for Venmo, Cash App, Google Pay, and UPI, plus manual settlement records with payment method, reference number, and notes. It does not process money inside the app yet. You still pay outside SuperDivide and record the settlement so group balances stay accurate.
SuperDivide uses HTTPS/TLS for data in transit and avoids storing bank account or card details because the product does not process payments. You can delete your account from settings, and release work is focused on keeping access checks, receipt ownership, and settlement records correct. Two-factor authentication and formal compliance programs are not launched yet.
